"There is something peculiar about life.
We yearn for it, yet can’t have it. We want to have it, but we can’t capture it.
We desire for life’s capture, but we are not even sure what life is about.
But at certain moments, we feel bigger than we are.
We oscillate between us and the world, and at that moment, we find a ray of life."

Yes it is true, psychologists can even tell a person's personality just by looking at the handwriting. Facial expressions and handwritings are not, however, the only basis for assessing one's behavior or personality - they are merely symbolic represantions, tips of the icebergs of what a person is and why he or she acts in a particular way.

Psychology isn't just for profileing though, even though taken advantage of, profileing can damage peoples life. Its like takeing lil pieces of what someone tells you and useing it as a root to define who someone is (yay lables wich most avoid) causeing better understanding.  All though understanding something and haveing to feel the same are two different ways to connect, understanding leaves out details so someone may only get a glimpse of how someone is.  Oh well most of what i said was useless and pointless but i'll tell you these forums right here are going to be my fav.

Hello there! Welcome aboard! :)

In addition to what I have posted in relation to Black's question. I have posted a thread in the General Discussion about Graphology. It is an online quiz about your handwriting and how much it can say about a person.

But if you are observant, you will notice that most results in popular quizzes such as graphology, are really generalized and may apply to everyone depending on the many factors that may affect the person while he/she is taking the test such as mood, weather, temperament, condition, health, etc.

There may be a lot of controversies or debates when it comes to behavior and Psychology in general. Online quizzes as such and those you read in popular magazines are in a way assessments that one may use to evaluate one's personality. Note that sometimes, some of the results may contradict to what you believe is your personality. Results from such tests are based on the general population who have been studied and evaluated using the same tests. Statistics come into play here.

Now the results which do not apply to you may be those that do not match the general foundation where the evaluations are based on. But this percentage error is usually very small. People who study behavior and provide research on such matters always make the data as valid, reliable and applicable as possible to the each individual making up the entire population.

For example, researchers want to find out whether it is true that most people who are extroverts wear loud colored shirts like orange, yellow and red. If the result equals to a significant number for the sample population, then they generalize this for the entire population.

The sample population are the people who are representatives of the entire population, say the peoples of the world. There are too many people to test which entails so much work and money that for practical reasons, researchers do their very best in getting the most accurate results. Now if you are an introvert and you find yourself not so much into loud colors.. This doesn't mean that the test is wrong.. it only means that you belong to the very small percentage of the people who do not agree with the fact that extroverts are much into loud colors - which is the sampling error or measurement gap in the data.

This may be a bit too overwhelming and I am honestly speaking that I cannot post every account related to the studies of Psychology here even if I wanted to, so in my own words, I am trying my best to share what I have learned from my program thus farI and  am here to help answer your questions to the best of my ability. A lot more other people who are studying in the same field as I am may be able to help you out. The internet dubbed the "information highway" is also a great tool for finding answers to your questions. But as what my professors would always say, be careful on the things that you search for. Do not believe everything you read. Look for reliable resources so that you stand on a much safer ground.

In a world that is a little bit too commercialized for comfort, we must be able to know if the facts presented are based on true data or sweetened entertainment.

I want to thank Moogle for the very interesting information he posted in Gen Psy regarding Borderline Personality Disorder. ^_^ I'm sorry if I haven't posted much because I'm really overwhelmed with all the stuff I need to do and study, not only in Psych, but also in my other courses so please bear with me as I slowly fill up this section with lots of interesting reads.

Feel free to share whatever topics you know about / regarding Psychology. Let's learn from each other!

Thanks! :)
